Visiting a child support program, 1st January 2023 to 18th January 2023
Hello friends! Welcome to the support, encouragement & prayer group for Rosalie and David. Rosalie and David are planning to go to Kenya, leaving December 31st to January 20th 2023.
Hi Friends, Who would have thought there would be so many changes in one year? I am thankful for all the changes, good and bad but it can be overwhelming.
There is a lot going on, including our sharing day service at CrossGen. Would love to see you all there. David and I are busy figuring out many things for Spur, including clinics, worker retreats, mentorship training and much more.
PRAYER NEEDED: it has come to our attention that we are behind in our fundraising, so therefore there are lots of issues to tackle as well as figuring out what we are doing for the Spur trip in January.
Hello Friends, It has been a while since my last post and again lots of things are happening. 😭😂 The most immediate need is my health. Unfortunately, I have been really sick the last 2 weeks.
Thanks to the Medical Pantry for partnering with Spur Afrika to provide much needed basic treatment supplies for Spur Afrika’s mobile clinics this coming January 2023. Medical Pantry co-ordinates the collection and use of no-longer needed medical supplies to promote both sustainability and improved healthcare delivery.
I know I am going to Kenya when my house turns into a warehouse!! 😅🤪😝 It’s great to have donations and to be able to bring some nice products to the children, families, workers and mentors.
🤩🥳😝😜🤩😝 PRAISE GOD for getting us through to this stage! It’s been lovely to have a break in South Australia, enjoy Christmas with our families and we also had a great time celebrating my birthday with a mega party!
Thank you Grace for helping us pack over 100kg of luggage and donated goods. 😆😊 Thank you Grace for taking us to the airport tomorrow. Tomorrow is the day we fly off!
It’s go time!! ✈️ We managed to check in over 100kg of donated goodies. There was a wait to get checked in but we managed to get through. It’s nearly time to board!
Happy new year from Kenya!! 🥰😍😘 Thank you for praying for us. We arrived safely and with all our luggage. Please continue to pray for good health and preparing for our clinics and children days.
All too often, the world just isn’t fair. Today was our first full day in the Kibera informal settlement (slum) of Nairobi, Kenya. The Spur Afrika staff - including Nico, Sylvia, Kijala and Maureen - were doing home visits for some of the children supported by the Spur Afrika program.
It’s clinic time. 🏥 I feel exhausted but it’s nothing in comparison to children who are unwell and never get any treatment. It is a privilege to access health care.
On Friday, we had the last of four busy days of free clinics run by Spur Afrika at the K.A.G. school in Kibera, Kenya! Spur Afrika provided assessment and free basic medications to 583 children and adults during the week, and free basic dental care to 126.
Dance, play, football and a lots of fun! ☺️🕺⚽️ On Saturday we got to take all the sponsored children out of the slum and into the nearby park. It was definitely an experience as it was chaotic to get the children there.
“Praise [God] for his mighty deeds; praise him according to the abundance of his greatness. Praise him with blast of horn; praise him with harp and lyre. Praise him with tambourine and dancing;
“Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean; remove the evil of your deeds from before my eyes; cease to do evil, learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless,
KISUMU 🐓😍🥰🧒🧒🕯❤️ My heart melts and feels for the people of Holo, Kisumu. To be a girl or woman 👩 living in a village is a strength but such a challenge.
Happy 13th birthday Spur!! 🎂 🤪👯♂️💃 Spur is really a teenager. 🤪☺️ I can’t believe we have been running Spur for that long. We survived, well we are thriving! It was so so fun to celebrate a birthday with our Spur Kibera community - plus Andrew who has travelled to Kibera for training with us.
Let’s talk about mental health, self care and mentorship! ❤️😍🥰 We had a great time training our Kenyan mentors. We talked about taking care of your own mental health so you can take care of others.
